Often we are told how to improve our onstage performances through voice, characterisation, and physicality.
All of this is vital and necessary, but also risks ignoring the very important factor that makes creating roles much easier: one another.
So much of an actor’s story comes from the people around them - even when they are a solo performer.
You share the space with geniuses, and in this empowering and involving series of workshops, you will utilise skills in listening and response so that you can rip up the script, dig beneath the text, and treat the words with a healthy (lack of?!) respect.
Building on the fundamentals of acting and improvisation we'll use a variety of exercises and sharp, focussed games, tp engender a positive and encouraging environment in which each performer is given the increased confidence to create their own work and bring their personal take to a whole range of characters.
The toolkit:
● Strong, brave choices in characterisation
● Active listening and equitable support with fellow actors
● Rich, original world building with minimal stimuli
● Making quick and bold decisions in storytelling
